The 'Film Still' series was shot on regular 8mm film in the late 1950's by a close family member. During the process of grabbing stills, I was thinking about what qualities change when a moving image enters into the world of still photography, and whether we require a different language to explain and define these variations.
My main motivation in creating this set was to challenge the way we think about how images transform when we take them from one singular realm into another.
