The museum functions as a vital institution that somehow validates the imperial project, yet also serves as a reminder that colonial histories and scientific thought have been driven by the domination and oppression of non-western societies and cultures. Based on this knowledge, the question begs - how can these institutions continue to be funded and upheld when their legacy is built on supremacy and violence, and is in serious need of dismantling?

A visit to the Royal Ontario Museum did not answer this question, but it did make visible the ongoing threat to wildlife populations, destruction of ecosystems, and at-risk habitats due to human activity and their incessant desire to display animal death.
