This film depicts the activities of live racing to explore the experiences of the horses, in particular, thoroughbreds. Woodbine Racetrack is one of the largest employers in Rexdale, Ontario, with a staff of approximately 750 and a barn that houses over 2500 horses bred and trained for racing.

Although I take objection to horse racing or any sports that force animals to work for human gain, I did witness tenderness between horse and trainer that was palpable. I wanted to include these shots to explore the tension that complicates animal exploitation and problematizes human/animal relationships.
